Mufti Day
Mufti day
Thursday the 25 of August 2016 was mufti day.
Mufti day is when you bring a gold coin and you can wear anything you want,e.g. pajamas dress ups and other clothing items you want.

The Assembly

After some of Room 22 and 23 performed a dance. Then the Greece athletes lit the torch and told the crowd what they did in the ancient Olympics. Then we had the Olympic Oath.
After we presented the rings blue America, Black Asia, red Australia, yellow Africa and green Europe. After we did sports in slow motion to chariots of fire. Then we had speaking parts about the next Olympics, they are in Tokyo Japan.
And then we talked about some famous New Zealand athletes like Mark Todd, Mahe Drysdale and Valerie Adams.
Finally we did a Zumba dance.

Our Assembly
On Friday it was our assembly. We did it with Room 22 our topic was the Olympics! At the start of the assembly we had the opening ceremony when we presented all the countries competing in the Olympics.After some of Room 22 and 23 performed a dance. This year was a great year for New zealand.
In fact It was the best for New Zealand.
Because we won a total of 18 medals.
4 golds , 9 slivers and 5 bronze.
The most medals we have ever won!
Lisa Carrington did really well In canoe sprint to get us two medals.

When she was racing to get gold she just bet the Croatians.
Mahe Drysdale managed to get a gold.
Hamish Bond and Eric Murray got us a gold In rowing.
Peter Burling and Blair Tuke got a gold In sailing.
Cross Country
Cross Country
On Tuesday the 16 of august 2016, Year 3-6 did cross country. First the year 3 girls warmed up with Mr Radcliffe.Then the race began. The girls went racing. In first place was Emma White. They had to do 2 laps round college riffes. Next was the Year 3 boys again they warmed up and the race began they ran as fast as they could. Then it became year 4 girls they were all so nervous and we didn't warm up. We have to go round twice and up a hill, first came Mikayla and second was Amelia. Next was the year 4 boys they went straight into it. They did the same course as the year 4 girls. In first place was Cassian from rm 23, second was Ethan from rm 33 and third was Callum from rm 23. then it was year 5 girls then year 5 boys then year 6 girls and finally year 6 boys. Then Mr Radcliffe announced the winning teams. In 4th place was Hillary and 3rd was Sheppard second was Rutherford so that means that Batten came 1st.

Garden to Table
Beautiful day out for Garden to table. Our Gardeners were working hard weeding, creating new signs and putting mulch in the garden. Well done Gardeners!!
Library Time
We love going to the library every week not only do we get the chance to change our books but Emma our librarian prepares a different quiz every week for us. Some of the quizzes have been about non fiction, the Dewey system to well known authors. We are looking forward to next weeks quiz!!

Fetu Feu'u by Oli P
In class we have been learning about Fetu Feu'u. Feta Feu'u is an artist that bases his work on his own culture. He was born in Samoa We have been trying out his style of artwork. We may have it on display for our art exhibition. He moved to New Zealand when he was twenty years old.

On the 2nd of August room 23 went to room 33 and did some Kandinsky art.It was very fun.
Sophia Bye Bye
Last term we said good bye to Sophia. Sophia is moving to England got a few years. We will definitely miss having her in our class. Good luck Sophia!!
